How to Ask for a Google Review: Internet Marketing for Lawyers Tips

Google reviews are extremely important to your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy, and this guide will help you get higher quality reviews for your firm and more of them.
In fact
These are the exact same steps we use to get really, really great reviews.
Let’s Get Started
How to Get More Google Reviews
By far, the most effective and quickest way to get more Google reviews is to simply ask for them. One of the most common reasons people don’t leave reviews is because they do not know they are supposed to.
If you ask your customers and clients to leave a review, you might be surprised that a lot of them will be willing to do so.
For Example
A common and natural time you can ask for these reviews is when you reach an important milestone in your services or you finish your service. For lawyers, a great time would be after you’ve helped your client win a case.
Another time you can ask is when you go above and beyond for them. Maybe you’ve done something extra for them that wasn’t laid out in the contract. This would also be an opportune time to ask for a review.
Whenever you do ask, be sure that you’re not exchanging a service for a review, and make sure you’re not discouraging anyone from leaving a review either. Even your unhappy customers should have an equal opportunity to leave their thoughts on Google.
How can you ask for Google Lawyer Reviews?
So, how exactly does asking for a Google review look like?
The answer probably depends on how you communicate with your clients.
If you primarily communicate with them through email, send them an email. If you call them regularly, mention it during the phone call.
Asking through your regular means of communication will ensure that your asking is natural and authentic.
Speaking of Authentic
If you are sending an email (which is probably the most common form of professional communication), make sure it’s personal.
Nobody is going to pay attention to an automated email (and Google doesn’t want bulk emails asking for reviews to be sent anyway). Be sure to include something personal so that your client knows that you have actually taken the time to write that email.
Next, you’ll need to keep the email short, sweet, and to the point. If the email is too long, your clients aren’t going to read it.
You don’t need to include anything fancy, and you don’t need to beat around the bush.
A shorter email will have a greater chance of convincing someone to leave a review.
Finally, you should also make sure you include a link to the platform on which you want them to write a review. If you want them to leave a review on your Google My Business profile, make sure you include a link.
The same goes anywhere else you want them to leave a review, such as Yelp or Facebook, or other niche review sites.
The easier you make it for someone to leave a review, the more likely it is they will do it.
Why Google Reviews Are Important
There’s a good chance that you take a look at reviews of products and services before you make the decision to purchase from a company.
Most people read reviews before buying. Here are some interesting statistics from Oberlo that show just how important reviews are:
79% of shoppers say they trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.
59% of consumers use Google to read reviews.
54.7% of consumers read at least four reviews before buying a product.
They’re Pretty Important
Even one good review can mean the difference between someone being interested in your services or not.
Anybody can talk about how great their own products and services are, but people tend to be more interested in what prior clients have to say.
Attorney ratings and reviews are the same way.
If you have great reviews, other people who are looking for a lawyer are more likely to call you.
A great review can also help you drive more traffic to your site, as potential clients can easily click on your website link after reading through reviews.
Luckily, you don’t have to just sit and wait, crossing your fingers that someone will leave a review. You can use the strategies mentioned above to get more of them.
How Google Reviews Impact SEO
In addition to being helpful to potential customers, Google Reviews can also improve your SEO rankings.
Google takes into account both the quantity and quality of reviews your business receives when determining your page rankings.
